The Luther Place Story

Our purpose

Our purpose is to provide affordable housing for low and moderate income adults 62 and better or mobility impaired persons requiring the special features of a handicapped unit. We are dedicated to using our shared knowledge, experience and compassion to achieve the best quality of life for our residents. We offer 24 hour onsite staff for monitoring of emergency alert systems. This allows you affordable independent living with the comfort and ease of contact us any time, day or night.

Luther Place is owned and operated by Luther Place L.P. and is co-sponsored by First Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church of Topeka.

Maintenance Free Living

Luther Place was built on the idea that being at home means feeling truly comfortable. With no worries about home maintenance, lawn care or snow removal, you will have the time and freedom to discover or rediscover the things you enjoy most.

Each Apartment Equipped

Each apartment in Luther I provides the comfort of electric heat and air conditioning with individual thermostats. Luther II apartments are equipped with electric air conditioning and are heated by a hot water circulation system with controls in each apartment.

Location

Located on Huntoon Street, near Fairlawn Road, it is within a short distance of shopping centers, restaurants, grocery stores and is on the Huntoon bus line just ten minutes from downtown. Luther Place is nestled in a beautiful wooded setting. It’s close to churches, grocery shopping, banking, postal services, a major shopping mall and is only minutes from downtown.

Small Pets Are Welcome!

Small pets are allowed with a pet deposit of $300, and must be paid in full at time of move in.

Requirements

  • Must be 62 years of age or older or
  • Mobility impaired-requiring the special features of a handicap unit

Income Guidelines

Income must be below the income limits for the current year
  • 1 person: $29,400.00
  • 2 person: $33,600.00

Lease and Rent

  • A one year lease is required
  • Rent is calculated at 30% of your monthly adjusted income
  • A security deposit equal to one month’s rent is required
